Taimur Sullivan (b. 1970) has won increasing attention as a performer of contemporary saxophone music in the United States and abroad. He has performed throughout eight countries, and has received critical acclaim as a musician "...not only dedicated and skilled, but also talented, fearless and sensitive" (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). Active in advancing the contemporary repertoire for the saxophone, he has premiered over 40 works by both established and emerging composers including Gerhard Stabler, Jeff Nichols, Alvin Lucier, Olga Nenwirth, Keith Moore, Jason Eckardt and Ross Feller, and has given lecture/performances on modern music and contemporary saxophone technique at the Manhattan School of Music, King's College London, Columbia University, the Curtis Institute, and New York University. Of his 1995 New York Debut Recital, the New York Times described it was "...commanding... Mr. Sullivan delivered this...wide-ranging program with a seductive breadth oftone and considerable technical agility."

He has studied at the University of Illinois and Michigan State University with Joseph Lulloff, Debra Richtmeyer and James Forger, and has recorded for the CRI, Innova, Mastersounds, Capstone and Bonk record labels.

Most recently, Mr. Sullivan was heard as a soloist and chamber musician at Lincoln Center in New York City, being subsequently featured on CNN, and was since awarded a grant from the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music. He has performed as a soloist at the Sonic Boom Festival in New York, the MusicParadise '98 Festival in Essen, Germany, and the EarMarks 1999 Festival in Duisberg, Germany. Recently he gave the United States premiere of Jean-Claude Risset's Voilements, and was presented in a solo recital in London.

Mr. Sullivan resides in New York City, where he is a member of the PRISM Saxophone Quartet, Ensemble 21, Washington Square Contemporary Music Society, and co-director of the ThreeTwo Festival of New Music. He has recorded for the CRI, Innova, Mastersound and Bonk record labels
