Australian saxophonist and composer, Barry Cockcroft performs regularly in Europe and across Australia. He studied saxophone in Melbourne with Peter Clinch and for two years in Bordeaux, France with Jacques Net, Marie-Bernadette Charrier and Jean-Marie Londeix. Barry holds a Bachelor of Education, Master of Music (performance) from the University of Melbourne.

Barry’s compositions are published exclusively by Australian publishing house Reed Music. The multimedia web-site www.reedmusic.com now represents many major Australian composers writing for saxophone, and is attracting attention from around the world. Barry has a strong commitment to new music, and works frequently with leading composers, expanding the repertoire of Australian saxophone compositions.

Last year, Barry toured Australia with international saxophone quartet Ensemble Atmosphère, performing 16 concerts in five states and released his debut CD, "Beat Me". This year, Barry has toured Europe as principal saxophone with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra including concerts in the Canary Islands, Switzerland, Germany and Austria and afterwards toured Spain with Ensemble Atmosphere.

Barry currently teaches saxophone at the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts.
