Josetxo Silguero was born in Irún (Gipuzkoa, Spain) in 1964. He carried out his musical studies in the Conservatoire of Music in San Sebastián, obtaining in 1982 the End of Course Prize. He also obtained the First Prize for Young Players (1987) and the First Prize "Jazz Music for Young Artists" (1989) given by the Regional Gouvernment of Basque Country. For three years, he improved his musical studies in Madrid with Manuel Miján, teacher of the Real Conservatoire of Music. Later on, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Regional Gouvernment of Basque Country and the County Council of Gipuzkoa, financed him to study in the National Conservatoire of Bordeaux (France) with the prestigious player Jean-Marie Londeix, obtaining the Gold Medal in Chamber Music and the Honour Prize "Ville de Bordeaux". In 1997 he won the Second International Award T.I.M in Rome (Italy).

He has performed several concerts in France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. He took part in the following Festivals: Quincena Musical de San Sebastián (1997), XXV Musical Week of Renteria "Musikaste" (1997/1999), XI Seminar of Contemporary Music of CGAC (1997), IV Seminar of Electroacoustic Music of Vitoria-Gasteiz (1998), XVIII International Concert IAML of S.Sebastián (1998), VIII Week of Contemporary Music of Leioa (1998), VII Festival of Electroacoustic Music "Punto de Encuentro" (1998), Matinées of the Symphony Orchestra of Euskadi (1998/1999), I International Festival of Music "Vasconavarros Composer's Association" (1998), Seminar for Contemporary Music Spread (CDMC) of the "Reina Sofa" Museum in Madrid.

He has encouraged the creation and has presented for the first time, several pieces for saxophone by famous basques composers. He has been invited to teach several courses, and nowadays he is a teacher in the Conservatoire of Music in Rentería, and soloist saxophone in the Symphony Orchestra of Bilbao and the Symphony Orchestra of Euskadi, as well as member of the group Ostots of Contemporary Music, an relating to chamber music he has founded the group Oiasso Novis (saxophone, accordion, percussion and live electronic), and he conducts his ow group Ensemble Aksax (voice, saxophone, percussion and live electronic).
