Eddie Rich is a sophomore music performance major at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, He performs as a member of the Ball State Wind Ensemble and the Ball State Lab Jazz Ensemble. He is also the alto saxophonist in the Ball State Saxophone Quartet. In the summer, Mr. Rich performs with the Lost River Cave Big Band in his native state of Kentucky.

Currently, he studles with George Wolfe and Adrien Re. His previous teachers are Jonathan Anderson and Tod Kerstetter. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.

Sonata for Alto Saxophone, Piano, and Double Bass is a three-movement sonata that is currently being written by Paul Andrews, a student composer at Ball State Universify. Eddie Rich, saxophonist at Ball State, commissioned this work for the World Saxophone Congress.

This piece will take advantage of classical and styles and will include improvisation in each of those styles.
