The Bach Partita was originally for flute

Fuzzy Bird Sonata was written for virtuoso Nobuya Sugawa in 1991, this is part of Yoshimatsu's continuing Bird series. "Sing, bird" is a thoughtful improvisation between two dazzling outer movements. The influences of bird song, folk melodies and jazz can be heard and the saxophone uses contemporary techniques such as glissandi and the altissimo register.

Sonatine was written in 1948 and dedicated to Marcel Mule. Claude Pascal's Sonatine opens with a joyful declaration leading to a flourishing cadenza. There is a moment of brief repose interrupted by the vivacious ending.
