Maria Noel Luzardo is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Music of Argentina, receiving a gold medal for performance there. She participated in masterclasses with artists of such eminence as Alberto Lysy, of the famed Lysy Academy of Switzerland; studied at Utrecht in Holland, with André Hemmers; won first Prize for Best Performance of Argentine music in 1994, at the Argentine National Music Contest; won first at the Buenos Aires International in 1997, has recorded two CD's, played solo performances with various orchestras, and is now in charge of the Saxophone Chair of the National Conservatory.
In rather delightful translations into English, her critics say things like "not only one of the few women dedicated to this particular instrument, but also one of its best performers and maybe the only one who plays a contemporary repertorie"(Diego Fisherman) and "is eager and transmits a passion for the instrument, that with performers like Luzardo will be imposed soon in the argentine music background..." (Iturbe, Ambito Financiero) Accompanist Martha Fornella, also went through the National Conservatory, has taught there for many years now, and has been much involved in chamber music concerts. The artists are supported by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs. |
