Takeshi Tsuchiya

Takeshi Tsuchiya was born in 1968. He majored in composition and musical theory in Graduate School at Tokyo College of Music. Studied composition under Prof. Joji Yuasa, Prof. Shin-ichiro Ikebe, and Prof. Akira Nishimura. Reserched computer music and technic of electro-acoustics at IRCAM.

    1993-1997 : Member of the composition group, “The Present Music”.

    1996 : Finalist of 13th Japan Society for Contemporary Music New Composer Competition.

    1997: Finalist of 66th Japan Music Competition.

    1998 : “SYNC”, the CDMC commissioned work first performed in Unesco Center in Paris.

    1999 : Commissioned by Pro Musica Nipponia, composed and first performed “Information Transcript IV” for 5 Sangen Players. Mr. Tsuchiya’s principal works have been introduced by NHK-FM and others.

As Part of his activities in the electronic music field, plays an active part in music and technology, including taking charge of programming and electro-acoustics for works by Ichiro Nodaira, Yori-aki Matsudaira, and Akira Nishimura. He resides in Tokyo.
