Carelton Macy

Carelton Macy, is Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota (USA), where he teaches Music Theory, Composition, and conducts the Macalester New Music Ensemble. He has composed over 90 works which have been performed at national festivals throughout Europe and the United States by such ensembles as the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Dale Warland Singers. Macy's music often integrates a variety of historical and ethnic stylistic influences. Among his most popular works are three woodwind quintets and four saxophone quartets. Twigs: a Serenade for Woodwind Quintet received special recognition at the National Symposia for New Woodwind Quintet Music. Macy's works have been recorded on MCF Innova, Access Records, and ACA Digital Recordings.
