James Dowdy est bachelier en piano-interprétation de l'Université de Montréal; études en composition avec André Prévost et techniques d'écriture avec Alain Belkin; primé lors du positeurs de la Société d'exécution du Canada avec sa composition Scènes d'hiver pour guitare seule; premier prix du concours de composition International Trumpet Guild avec sa pièce Mouvement pour trompette et orgue; boursier MAC pour une oeuvre pour orgue et orchestre. Depuis 1987, professeur au Conservatoire de Val-d'Or et directeur de la Chorale du Conservatoire; membre fondateur de la S.A.L.A.T. et directeur musical de la Chauve-Souris (1994) et les Brigands(1997) James Dowdy detains a Bachelor in piano-interpretation from the University of Montreal; studied composition with André Prévost and writing techniques with Alain Belkin; took first place at the 7th annual competition of young composers of the Société d'exécution of Canada with his composition Winter Scenes for solo guitar;and also took first prize at the International Trumpet Guild Composition competition with his piece Movement for Trumpet and Organ; Recipient of the MAC scholarship for a work for organ and orchestra. Since, 1987 he is a teacher at the Conservatory in Val-d'Or and director of the Conservatory's Choir. Founding member of the S.A.L.A.T. and musical director of the Chauve-Souris (1994)and Les Brigands (1997). |
