Roger Boutry (1932- ) studied at the Paris Conservatory with Nadia Boulanger, Marguerita Long, and Tony Aubin. In 1954, he won the Prix de Rome. Boutry has divided his professional career primarily among conducting, composing, and teaching. His last named duty has been performed at the Conservatory as professor of harmony. To concertgoers, he is recognized as conductor and musical director of the Garde Republicaine. As composer, he has established himself as a versatile projector of musical ideas in a variety of genres. And if all these activities weren't enough, he's also become known as a first rate pianist with an eclectic repertoire. |
